POSTPONED: Dr. Lewis Aron, February 27, 2016: The Therapist’s Use of Subjectivity in Contemporary Clinical Practice

February 27, 2016 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

DUE TO AN UNFORSEEN MEDICAL EMERGENCY, THE CONFERENCE WEEKEND WITH DR. LEWIS ARON HAS BEEN POSTPONED. CONTACT OUR OFFICE AT info@ticp.on.ca FOR MORE INFORMATION, OR FOR REFUND OPTIONS SHOULD YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED A TICKET.
Synopsis

This daylong workshop will focus on fluctuations of identity and shifting self-states in the clinician and their “dramatization.” The workshop will trace the tradition from Sándor Ferenczi to Harold Searles and contemporary relational psychoanalysis. I will focus on the clinical contributions of Searles who I have described as “the American answer to Sandor Ferenczi.” Searles is the missing link, too infrequently credited, between the Ferenczian tradition and the current relational approach. We will discuss his articles and watch several videos of his famous or notorious clinical interviews. I will draw comparisons and contrasts to the approach associated with Bion, Ogden, Ferro, Civitrarese, Grotstein, and the post-Bionians as well as to relational practitioners such as Mitchell and Bromberg, and to some of the overlapping interests and concerns of the Jungians.
The workshop will include: Lecture format, group discussion of readings, video, and discussion of video.

Readings will be distributed in advance to all who sign up for the workshop.
