ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION
This documentary was filmed in South Africa. Five young black urban women are taken into the wilderness with guides to connect with nature and each other in a meaningful way. What transpires over the five-day journey inspired Sharon Dembo to want to share the film and discuss its therapeutic impact and implications from a psychoanalytic perspective. The film will be shown, followed by a Q & A with the producer live from London, UK, and a group discussion amongst those present.
1) Participants will learn about an alternative therapeutic approach to alleviate the personal suffering of trauma.
2) Participants will consider framing this clinical work through a psychoanalytic lens.
3) Participants will have a chance to discuss aspects of the experience in the film and post film with the Producer and in the group.
