FAQ
Who is this program for?
The Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is designed for professionals in allied fields (education, the humanities or social sciences) who wish to change careers. It rests on prior learning through first hand experience of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Classes provide a solid base of theory and supervised work with clients in the TICP Community Clinic provides a solid footing for your own practice.
Where is the TICP Community Clinic and where are classes held?
Both classes and the clinic are located at 427 Vaughan Rd in central west Toronto.
Who are the faculty and the supervisors?
Experienced clinicians from several professions (psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers and psychoanalysts) teach and supervise in the program.
How much are fees?
Year 1: Tuition: $6,000
Years 2 & 3: Tuition: $ 6,000 plus Clinic & Practicum Fees: $1,350 plus Supervision: $5,500
How much time does this program take?
In first year, there is just the three hour class; with preparation and a reflection paper, approximately six hours a week. In years two and three, the time commitment goes up as your caseload increases. By the beginning of year 3, the program takes 25 hours a week.
Can I come to class online and can I see clients online?
We have the technology for excellent online class attendance and client work. We use these only when a commute is inadvisable or to limit contagion.
What does Advance Standing mean?
Students who have qualifications well beyond those required for admission might begin the program in second year, or receive credit for some assignments based on previous work in other programs.
