FAQ

When will I be able to see a therapist?

The clinic operates 7 days a week and 3 weekday evenings a week every week of the year. We are closed on Statutory holidays. We can work with about 250 clients at a time, so if there is room at the clinic, you may be seen within 3 weeks of requesting service.

Will I be put on a Wait list?

When all our appointments are committed, we put new people on the wait list with information about the times they can come for sessions. We try to reach out monthly to check that you are still waiting and to see if your availability has changed.

What’s the intake process?

After we have received your request, we arrange to speak with you to see if you meet our criteria. Then we schedule you to have an intake interview at the clinic. Then you will speak with a seasoned therapist to review whether or not we are the right fit for your needs. If they think you will not be well served at our clinic they will work with you to find another service that is better suited.

If you are a good match for what we offer, you will either be assigned a student therapist and a time for regular sessions or you will be put on the waiting list.

Are you covered by my insurance?

The TICP Community Clinic is a student clinic. We charge for sessions and while the invoices and invoicing look like professional fees, the charges are for the clinic’s overhead. No professional collects typical fees in connection with the clinic.

These fees cannot be claimed against insurance because insurance insures services by regulated professionals, not hospitals, clinics, or educational institutes.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

We are an in-person clinic. Our student therapists are training for their in-person psychotherapy certification. As such, we require the majority of sessions to occur on-site at our clinic, located at 427 Vaughan Road.

We understand that emergencies happen and can accommodate occasional virtual sessions, but not as a regular practice.
